I never had a problem with large file transfers or burning an occasional cd. I can only assume that I used different versions of the unified driver packages when setting those two computers up.

I spoke too soon. The errors are re-appearing. It seems that I must do something in BING which activates the drive well before windows boots to get rid of the errors.
